The basic system operation of CHRIMS occurs in three phases:
CHRIMS electronically downloads complete end-of-session reports and TRA settlement files which includes all wagering activity conducted throughout California. Both import and export activity is acquired. Each morning CHRIMS data staff run proprietary database driven apps which compile data into usable information units (pool-by-pool, site-by-site, handle,
takeout, breakage, payout). This information is then processed using tables prescribing statutory and contractual takeout distribution formulas to produce a
new set of information separating pari-mutuel revenue allocations. Additionally non-commingled wagering information is manually input when necessary.
Once information is checked by CHRIMS staff it becomes available to our customers through our web based reporting platform.
System users may query the database across a variety of parameters to obtain consistent, reliable information for accounting purposes, statistical
analysis, confirmation of pari-mutuel receipts due, interstate simulcast settlements, and more.
